1000 Days Anniversary of Sewol Tragedy

January 9 is 1000 days. On January 7, there is a memorial event at 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Wilshire and Western in Koreatown, Los Angeles. So many broken hearts and unrealized dreams... these Spirits of the Sewol opened the hearts and minds of a nation to reform Korea.

2017년 1월9일이면 1000번째 4월16일입니다.
하여 늘 잊지않고 행동으로 기억해주시는 LA지역 여러분과 함께 희생자들과 실종자들의 넋을 기리는 추모 모임을 갖고자 합니다.
이 모임은 곧 다가오는 세월호 참사 3주년 추모 모임의 일환으로 걸개그림에 참여자들이 아픔을 함께 담아내는 동안 추모의 합창과 자유발언 등으로 진행될 예정입니다.
끝까지 잊지않고 행동하겠다는 약속의 연장입니다.
개개인의 마음과 기억과 행동을 엮어 튼튼한 연대의 고리가 되어 저 어두운 바다밑에 가라앉은 진실을 끌어올리는데 작은 힘이라도 보탤 수 있기를 바라봅니다.

Top 10 Things You Should Know About Dosan

John Cha and Flip Cuddy will be speaking together about the "Top Ten Things You Should Know About Dosan". You will learn quite a bit about the real story behind Dosan Ahn Chang Ho. Dosan is an authentic leader with a remarkable history - much of it taking place in downtown Los Angeles. The event will be held at Moseley-Salavtori Confernce Center at Good Samaritan Hospital. Registration starts at 6:30 PM Event starts at 7:00 PM. Power point and discussion until 8:15 PM and open discussion/Q&A until 9:00 PM.

Attendees have an option to buy "Love Yourself, Love Others" a book about Dosan's Leadership philosophy. Book is in English only. John Cha translated it. You can pick up your pre-paid book at check-in table.

General Attendance is $10.00 plus Eventbrite Fee $1.49 added at time of ticket purchase. Fee includes box sandwich selection of your choice, chips, fruit and drink.

Parking will be at the Lucas Garage directly across the street from the Conference Center.

Organizer of event: March First Education Program--The March First Education Program is organized under the 3.1 Women's Association USA. This program has been created to educate the public about the historical events of the Independence Movement during the Korean Colonial Period from 1905 to 1945 when Japan planned to obliterate Korea and Korean culture from the face of the earth. This program emphasizes the Independence Movement activities of Koreans in America of the Pioneer Generation of immigrants and the activities of The March First Movement in 1919 in Korea.

Susan Ahn Cuddy Memorial Seminar: History & Legacy

The Susan Ahn Cuddy Memorial Seminar: History and Legacy is an education program to honor the life of Susan Ahn Cuddy on the first anniversary of her passing. Susan died June 24, 2015. She lived to be 100 years old. Her life story as a child of the first Korean married couple to come to America in 1902 and the first Korean American family, her service in the United States Navy and National Security Agency, and her Korean American community leadership is a legacy of an authentic and excellent role model.

This event is sponsored by 3.1 Women's Association USA and supported by Good Samaritan Hospital. Susan worked closely with both of these organizations for many years.

Seminar speakers include: John Cha, Susan's biographer and Willow Tree Shade author, Marcia Choo long time personal friend who was mentored by Susan, Susan's daughter Christine Cuddy and son Flip Cuddy ... and other speakers. There will be two General Lectures in the Moseley-Salvatori Auditorium and two Break Out sessions with speakers and smaller groups. The seminar is designed to provide detailed information about Susan's History & Legacy and allows time for attendees' Q&A to get answers for their personal interest in Susan's life.

There will be a Lunch Service included in the Registration Fee of $15.00 per person. Lunch Selections are on the online registration form.

Parking is $5.00 per car flat rate to be paid by Attendees at the Lucas Avenue parking structure - across from Moseley Salvatori Conference Center on Lucas Avenue just North of Wilshire Blvd.
